Sony Ericsson Equinox Review

With the Sony Ericsson Equinox you get a very sleek phone that measures 3.7 x 2.0 x 0.6 inches; there is an internal display that measures 2.25-inches with support for 262,144 colors. Unfortunately the internal display is really too small to be very useful. Another problem with the Equinox Sony Ericsson is that it uses a memory stick instead of a microSD card, which is a lot more popular.

Some of the features that come with the Sony Ericsson Equinox include a phonebook that will hold 1,000 contacts. There are also the standard features such as, text and multimedia messaging, plus a speakerphone, plus a task list, a notepad, a stopwatch, a timer, and a notepad. In addition to these basic features you also get some nice advanced features; the Equinox offers PC syncing, instant messaging, a voice recorder, WiFi and code memo.
For multimedia features the Sony Ericsson Equinox cell phone has a built in 3.2-megapixel camera that can take pictures in four different sizes. This camera does come with several nice editing options so that you have more control over how your pictures look. The photo quality you get with the Equinox is fair, but the photos do tend have a somewhat pinkish color to them. Another problem is that there is no built in flash.
Not only can you take still photos with this camera, but you can also record video. To store your video and pictures, the Sony Ericsson Equinox has 100MB of internal memory, plus you can expand that memory up to 16GB.
The music player that comes with this handset is much like what comes with the Sony Walkman, it is easy to use and features a built in FM radio. Another nice feature that comes with the Equinox is a GPS system with Google Maps. There are also applications for social networking; these include YouTube, Facebook and several more.
The call quality that you get with the Sony Ericsson Equinox phone is good; voices sound natural and come through loud and clear. The battery life for this phone is rated for 4 hours, but you may actually get more time than this.
Ultimately, the Sony Ericsson Equinox has some great potential, but some problems with the design, along with a speakerphone that doesn’t sound as good as it should. These are really the only problems to keep this phone from being really great.
