Samsung MyShot II Review
By admin on March 22nd, 2010
The Samsung MyShot II is a slight variation to the original MyShot, though this phone does come with some differences in design, and Cricket is the carrier. There really are not enough changes from its predecessor to call the Samsung MyShot II a real update, and the performance you get with this handset is along the same lines as the original model, so it isn’t too impressive.
Although the Samsung MyShot II is a flip phone like the MyShot, it is a lot more stylish and comes in a pleasant maroon color. This handset measures 3.7 x 1.8 x 0.7 inches, and weighs 3.4 ounces. The MyShot II feels great in your hand, but it does have a plastic casing that seems a little flimsy, therefore it is advisable that you try not to drop this phone.
There is a small, 1-inch external screen on the Samsung MyShot 2 that displays photo caller ID, the time, signal strength, battery charge, etc. When you flip open the phone there is an internal display that measures 2.1-inches that supports 262,000 colors. The colors are bright enough, but due to the fact that this is a low-resolution screen, graphics and pictures are not sharp.
Some of the features that come with the Samsung MyShot include a phonebook that will hold up to 500 contacts, plus there are some core features, such as a speakerphone, text and multimedia messaging, in addition to a calendar, and a memo pad. There is also an alarm clock, a world clock, and a calculator, plus much more. You will get some high-end features with the MyShot II, including voice dialing and voice commands, along with a voice recorder and Bluetooth.
Included with the Samsung MyShot II is a 1.3-megapixel camera that features several different photography settings, though it doesn’t have built in flash, plus it doesn’t record video. The photo quality is about what you would expect for a camera phone, with some pictures coming out blurry, especially when taken in poor lighting conditions. To store your pictures, the MyShot II comes with 40MB of internal memory, but you do have the option of expanding the phone’s memory with a microSD card. Another multimedia extra includes a basic music player.
The call quality you get with the Samsung MyShot is fair, even if the volume does seem a little low. Though you will likely get a strong signal in most places, callers on the other end will easily be able to tell you are on a cell phone. The battery life for this phone is rated at 4 hours of talk time and 12.5 days of standby time.
The Samsung MyShot II does offer fair call quality and some nice features, but the photo quality you get with the camera isn’t the greatest.
