Samsung Intrepid Review

Although the Samsung Intrepid may look like a cheap plastic phone, it really is a very good messaging smartphone. This is a Windows Mobile phone that features a touchscreen, and a QWERTY keyboard, plus much more. With this handset’s world roaming capabilities, and the array of other features that are included, it really is a very good choice for a smartphone.

When you look at the Samsung Intrepid you see a phone that actually appears useful instead of flashy; this mobile actually resembles the Samsung Ace. The Intrepid measures 4.6 x 2.59 x 0.51 inches, which is a little wide. Although you won’t be able to easily slide the Intrepid into your pocket, it does have a solid feel to it. The screen is a little small, measuring 2.5-inches, and it doesn’t provide a real sharp and colorful picture.

You will get a full QWERTY keyboard that will make it easy to write text messages and email. The keyboard is spacious enough that it’s simple to use. Another nice feature is that this is a duel mode phone; in addition to being a 3G device so you can have access to fast data downloads.

Some of the great wireless options that come with the Samsung Intrepid black include Bluetooth, WiFi, and GPS. Some additional features that you get with this mobile include voice dialing, speed dialing, conference calling, as well as text and multimedia messaging. As this is a Windows Mobile phone you can expect some fantastic email options. To surf the web you get Microsoft Office Mobile Suite, plus staying productive is easy when your mobile phone has Office Mobile Suite.

The Samsung Intrepid is not all business; you do get some nice multimedia features included with this handset. With the Intrepid you get a 3.2-megapixel camera, as well as some photo editing options built in. There is a media player so you can listen to your favorite music and watch video right from your phone.

The call quality for this phone is very good; you should get little to no background noise to interfere with calls. Watching streaming video is also a great experience with the Intrepid; videos download fast and play with no sluggishness. The GPS on this phone works well and is very reliable, though route recalculation tends to be just a little slow.

The battery life rating for the Samsung Intrepid is for 6 hours of talk time, but with average use you should get more out of the battery before having to recharge it.

It should be no problem getting this phone at a fairly reasonable price if you purchase it on a Samsung Intrepid monthly contract. The carrier does offer some great prices and discounts when you buy on contract.

Brilliant for personal and business use

Apr 8th, 2010

The screen is very clear, easy to read and it's very user friendly. I am not very tech-savvy and was looking for a more personal-use smartphone with business capabilities. It has a great camera, and the call quality is great, better than what I had before. I've had my computer on with my e-mail and my phone next to it: when I receive a new e-mail I can see it load on my computer and my phone just a mere few seconds later - that's how fast it updates itself!

Great phone but frustrating

I really am beginning to like this phone, have had it just shy of a week, so many more hours of tweaking to go. The only fustrating feature is that you cant go back one level so have to go back to the main screen everytime!

Definietly not for me

I have found this cell to be cumbersome, sluggish, software very unstable. Even the vibrate function is weak, text messages are virtually undetectable when phone is on vibrate - I have missed a lot of important texts and calls.

Ruined by the software

Could be awesome but its ruined by the software.

This phone is such a pain. No matter what you do it's difficult.

If you do consider buying this just go to a store and play with it for 5 or 10 minutes. Since this phone's flaws are centered around the user experience and not bugs you can see how difficult this is to use after a few minutes of use.
