Samsung Instinct S30 Review
By admin on March 23rd, 2010
The Samsung Instinct S30 is meant to be an upgrade from the original Instinct model, but in reality it doesn’t upgrade too much except for maybe the design. This handset is thinner than the original, and the screen is slightly larger, but aside from these things there are not a whole lot of differences.
With the Samsung S30 Instinct you get a mobile phone that measures 4.57 x 2.11x 0.48 inches and weighs 3.88 ounces. There are more curves with the S30 Instinct so overall it doesn’t have the same awkward look as its predecessor. You also get a 3.2-inch screen, which is not a lot bigger, and you probably wouldn’t notice the increase in size. There is a QWERTY keyboard so that writing text messages and email is a fast and simple task.
The Samsung Instinct S30 offers a lot of the same features as the original Instinct; there is a personal organizer, Bluetooth, GPS, and Visual Voice Mail. In addition you also get voice command, support for email, a full HTML browser and a built in FM radio. To keep your contacts at your fingertips there is a phonebook that will hold up to 600 phone numbers, as well as a great deal of additional information about each contact.
You won’t get the best camera with the S30, but they have included a standard 2-megapixel shooter. Unfortunately there are no photo editing options, but you will get some decent photo quality.
One of the best features that have been included with this upgrade is instant messaging, as well as the ability to expand the phone’s memory up to 32GB with a microSD card. The Instinct S30 is a 3G device; this means that you are going to get some great download speeds with this phone.
The call quality that you get with the Samsung Instinct S30 is very good; voices come through loud and clear, with no static. This is a drastic improvement over the original model. Watching streaming video on this handset is about the same as the first model; although the video does load quickly, it tends to lag and stick. The audio quality for the music player is about average for a cell phone, but to get the best sound you will probably want to use headphones.
The web browser that comes with this phone will provide a fairly good web surfing experience; pages load quickly and look great. As for battery life, the Samsung S30 Instinct is rated for 4.6 hours of talk time.
The Samsung Instinct S30 reviews have been mixed; most agree that although this phone looks better than the first model, there really are not enough differences to call it a serious upgrade. If you already own the Instinct, it wouldn’t make a lot of sense to purchase this upgraded model.
