Samsung Instinct HD Review

One of the best multimedia phones in recent times is the Samsung Instinct HD. This sleek and stylish phone puts a lot of emphasis on multimedia, as is evident with its high definition camera. The problem with this phone is that it is very high priced, even when you buy on a contract and add the discounts.

The Samsung HD Instinct phone is a little bigger than the original instinct, but with rounded, soft curves it seems a lot sleeker. The Instinct HD comes in a silver and black color scheme and measures 4.63 x 2.29 x 0.5 inches and weighs 4.01 ounces. When you hold this phone in your hand it has a solid feel to it, but it is still small enough that you can slip it into your pocket and take it with you.

On the front of the Samsung Instinct HD is a 3.2-high definition display; although it would be nice to have a larger display, the HD display you get with the instinct looks great. In addition to a great display, the Instinct also features a full QWERTY keyboard with large buttons. Although this keyboard may not look like it has a lot of room, it is roomy enough that it’s easy to use.

Some of the features that you’ll find with the Samsung HD Instinct include a phonebook that holds up to 600 contacts; though this isn’t near as many as what some mobiles offer, it is more than enough to fit the needs of most people. The core features that you get with this handset consist of a vibrate mode, as well as text and multimedia messaging. There is also a calendar, a calculator, and an alarm clock, as well as a speakerphone, and a notepad.

With this multimedia phone you do get some high-end features, including Bluetooth, and Microsoft Live Search, Visual Voice Mail, as well as voice command. There is also support for several different email accounts; in addition you get the Opera 9.7 browser preinstalled. This is a full HTML mobile web browser that offers a great experience when surfing the web from your handset.

One of the main focuses of this phone is its 5-megapixel HD camera that also records video in HD. With this camera you will get some very good video, much better than what you would expect for a camera phone. With a high definition camera you will quickly eat up to 512MB of built in memory, but the Samsung Instinct HD can accommodate memory cards up to 32GB.

Some additional multimedia features that you get with the Instinct include an MP3 player, as well as access to streaming video and music. You can also access Social Networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook.

There is no doubt that this is a fantastic multimedia phone, but finding a cheap Samsung Instinct HD may not be an easy task.

Very disappointing

It looks cool but breaks constantly and needs repairing. The screen freezes a lot.

Fix a few things and could be good

This phone has the potential to be fantastic. The keyboard posted the wrong letter unless I touched a certain point within the square. The web browswer often has problems connecting to sites. I like the concept of a touchscreen phone, and like the screen size which is about twice as big as my blackberry's. But this isn't the phone for me.

Not as good as expected

The HD Video and the browser on the Instinct is MUCH faster than previous modelsIt's easy to use MOST things. Games are clear and quick. Call quality is great. However, photo quality isn't as great as previously stated. Most pictures are VERY blurry. Music play sucks!
