Samsung Illusion Review

It’s not as chunky as some other smart phones on the market are either. Weighing in at just a tad over four ounces it shouldn’t feel too heavy at all. It measures 115mm high by 60mm wide and comes in at just 12mm thick. It’s a fine design too, with nicely curved edges and ends to fit nicely in your hand when you are using it.

The screen is a nice size but you get the feeling it could have been a little larger. However it comes in at an appreciable 3.5 inches from corner to corner, so it should be enough to please most people. In addition the HVGA display packs in a 320 by 480 pixel resolution, and although this isn’t as good as the higher end phones Samsung has to offer, the Samsung Illusion more than pulls it off.
When you get the phone out of the box you’ll see it has a nice selection of apps already included with it. You can get more but you’ll no doubt appreciate seeing stalwarts such as Amazon Kindle, a calendar and the perennial calculator on there to begin with.
The stumbling block with the Samsung Illusion – and this seems to be the case with every low budget Android phone you can find today – is the camera. It gives you a reasonable 3 megapixels and you also get a video capability, but it doesn’t give the best quality pictures you’ll ever see. If you constantly use your mobile to take photos you might be better off and less frustrated with a more advanced model. Otherwise you may not even notice this shortcoming.
The Samsung Illusion provides you with a 1GHz single core processor and beefs things up a tad with a 2GN internal memory. You get an additional 2GB of external memory but you can go much bigger with this, inserting up to a 32GB memory card if you need to. In short the phone should offer plenty to those wanting to get on the first rung of Android phones, while leaving those already higher up looking for something else.
