Samsung Highlight Fire Review
By admin on March 22nd, 2010
Although the Samsung Highlight – Fire isn’t the most original or unique cell phone available, it is a touchscreen phone that comes in a stylish design. Although this handset doesn’t come with an abundance of features, it does provide 3G, a speakerphone and much more.
The Samsung Highlight Fire Red doesn’t resemble other Samsung touchscreens, it is a little rounder, and appears less sophisticated. One difference you’ll see in this phone is that it is a little bulky; it measures 4.27 x 2.11 x 0.54 inches and weighs 3.7 ounces. The Highlight has a solid built, but yet it is still compact and light enough that it’s comfortable to hold in your hand.
On the front of the Samsung Highlight Fire is a 3-inch touchscreen. The size is somewhat small for a touchscreen but it does offer a high resolution viewing experience. You have the option of typing out your text messages with the alphanumeric keypad, or there is also a virtual keyboard on the screen. The virtual keyboard is the preferable method of typing, as it is a lot easier.
Some of the features that come with the Samsung Highlight Fire Red include a phonebook that can hold up to 2,000 contacts; there is also a vibrate mode, as well as text and multimedia messaging. Some personal management features that come with this phone include a calendar, a calculator, and a memo pad; you also get a speakerphone, plus more. The advanced features that come with the Highlight include voice dialing and voice command, in addition to an RSS reader, email, Bluetooth, and GPS.
Another extra you can expect with the Samsung Highlight Fire Red is a built in 3-megapixel camera. There is no flash, but the picture quality is good and the camera does offer a variety of shooting modes. Along with taking still photos, this camera phone can also record video, which is always a nice option to have.
Some additional multimedia features include a basic music player so that you can take your favorite music with you wherever you go, plus there is a full HTML browser so that you can browse the Internet.
The call quality that you get with the Highlight is good, voices are clear and there is no static, unfortunately the volume just doesn’t seem loud enough. The speakerphone performed on about the same level. With 3G you can easily surf the Internet at fast speeds, web pages load almost as fast as they would with home broadband. The battery life for this phone is rated at 6.5 hours of talk time and 18.5 days of standby time.
If you are searching for an entry-level phone that offers great features, you will want to consider buying a Samsung Highlight Fire.
