Samsung Haven Review
By Richard Patterson on October 27th, 2011
The phone’s design is pretty sizable. It measures 3.92 inches in height, 2 inches in width and is 0.72 inch thick. It weighs a total of 3.49 inches. Its box-like shape gives it an austere profile, though its weight makes it comfortable enough to hold and handle. It lacks a textured surface on the back, but its grip is still kept at a good level with the size and shape of the phone.

Its grey exterior won’t be the liking of everyone, though together with its shape it does give the phone a very practical look. The phone opens up easily with indented spines helping the flip-up mechanism feel smooth.
Presented on the front of the phone is a 1.07 inch screen, displaying in large letters key information such as the time, network signal and remaining phone battery life. Flipping up the phone will reveal its internal 2.2 inch display, supporting 65k colours and a resolution of 176x220. Again the font is large so all information is made easy to read. The wallpaper, banner and backlight time can all be customized to suit the individual user needs.
Beneath the display there are shortcuts for voice commands, photo gallery and voice mail. Sadly, the purpose of the photo gallery is slightly lost to us as the phone’s screen doesn’t display pictures well. It also has a small amount of internal memory and, more importantly, the phone is without a camera. Still, the other shortcuts will add additional convenience for the user.
Beneath the phone’s internal screen is its navigation pad and keypad. These function the same as they do on any given feature phone. The only real difference is that, again, the keys are big to cater for its target audience. The keys are also all backlit. Around the navigation pad are shortcuts for 911, in-case-of-emergency numbers and speakerphone.
The phone’s inbuilt applications and features are exactly that which we’ve come to expect from feature phones. The only slight difference is that the phone has a comparatively lower phonebook capacity of 500, whilst many other feature phones on the market are sporting a 1,000 entry capacity.
It also offers basic applications such as world clock, calculator and stop watch.
