Samsung Gravity TXT Review
By admin on October 27th, 2011
The Gravity TXT doesn’t necessarily sell itself on style, though it does elements from previous Gravity smartphone, albeit in a reduced size. Of course, the main difference is that it has its keypad and a much smaller screen. It is a compact and basic phone and its relatively dull aesthetic does as much to reflect the affordability of the phone as its limited features and functions. However, the design is slim even with its slide-out QWERTY keyboard and so still manages to retain some level of attraction.

The phone measures 4.41 inches in height, 2.09 inches in width and is 0.59 inch thick. It weights a total of 3.59 ounces, putting its weight on an average level for a feature phone of this size. The screen is a QVGA 2.4 inch display with 262k colors and supporting a resolution of 240x320. It isn’t the biggest or the highest quality display out there, but it is perfectly suitable for a feature phone of this size. It provides enough colors to make images clear and colorful. The brightness levels of the display can also be adjusted.
A feature seldom seen on slide-out feature phones is that the screen turns landscape as you use the keyboard slider. This allows for greater user comfort and an experience which manages to properly utilise the phone’s best component – its QWERTY keyboard. Generally the keyboard feels good and durable. The slider mechanism works smoothly and locks pleasantly into place either way. As for the keyboard layout, it is spacious with enough room left between each key to cater for those with bigger fingers.
However, the keys lack a defined feel as they are not raised very far above the keyboard’s surface. It is something that the user will mostly adapt to, but for those who are touch-type inclined it may be hard to enjoy using the keyboard for long periods of times.
In terms of features the phone offers that which is usually seen on a phone of this calibre. It has a 1,000 contact capacity phonebook and all the core applications found on feature phones (e.g. calculator, world clock, calendar etc.). It does however have the added function of the Social Buzz app. This allows you to access Facebook, Myspace and Twitter.
The phone’s 2.2-megapixel camera performs to the standard expected on feature phones. The pictures produced are of an average quality and there a few options for optimising how your photos are taken (e.g. white balance, digital zoom and multishot).
