Samsung Gravity Smart in Lunar Gray

The phone’s design comes in a compact form, though leaning slightly to the bulky side as a result of its slide-out keyboard. Nevertheless, its dimensions do not mean the phone is without style. Its front has a glossy black finish and overall the phone’s construction is one of quality. The phone measures 4.5 inches in height, 2.3 inches in width and is 0.6 inch thick. It weighs a total of 4.6 ounces which though on the heavy side, is light enough to keep a decent level of comfort when handling the phone.

Mounted on the front of the phone is its 3.2 inch touch-screen display, supporting a QVGA resolution of 420x380. The resolution is just right for a screen of this size. Sure more is always better, but for a budget phone the resolution performs amicably, proving vibrant, colorful images with sharp and defined text. The screen’s size is similarly adequate to meet all the phone’s needs. The only disadvantage to the 3.2 inch over the common 3.5 inch is that the virtual keyboard appears squashed, making onscreen typing slightly undesirable. However, this is certainly not an issue without a solution, as the user also has the phone’s slide-out QWERTY keyboard to type into. The keyboard is generally comfortable to use and the keys are adequately spaced out. They have a textured finish with a tactile touch.
Shipping with the phone is the Android 2.2 operating system, with TouchWiz as its interface overlay. Joining the latest version of TouchWIz is the ability to turn on and off the phone’s main functions through an easily accessible pull-down menu. It also has options for customization through the phone’s 7 home screen menus, each of which can be personalised with your favourite shortcuts and widgets. This also includes access to the Android Market which contains a selection of over 250,000 applications for both convenience and entertainment.
Delivering the phone’s consistent performance is an 800MHz processor. It isn’t the most powerful on the market, and falls short when compared to the many dual-cores out there, but is nevertheless capable of supporting the phone’s functions and features.
Built into the phone is a 3-megapixel camera with LED flash and camcorder capability. The camera generally reflects the phone’s budget price tag. The pictures it produces are of an average quality though with the colors becoming washed out in certain areas.
