Samsung Convoy Review
By Richard Patterson on April 19th, 2010
With the Samsung Convoy phones it is evident that they are meant to withstand some abuse; they feature rubber siding so that the phones do not break the first time you drop one of them.
There is an external screen on this phone that will display the time, date, photo caller ID and signal strength. The main display measures 2.2-inches and supports 262,000 colors.
Some of the features that you get with the Samsung Convoy include a phonebook that will hold up to 1,000 contacts. Additional features that come with this phone include text and multimedia messaging, plus you get some of the essentials such as a calculator, a calendar, and a speakerphone. There is an alarm clock, a stopwatch, and more. For advanced features the Convoy offers voice commands and voice dialing, there is Bluetooth, as well as instant messaging, and built in GPS. The Samsung Convoy also features access to Verizon’s Push to Talk access.
For multimedia features the Samsung Convoy phones come with a built in 2-megapixel camera that can also record video. With this camera you can take photographs in five different resolutions and three separate quality settings. Shooting modes include divided shots, digital zoom and more. The photo quality is very good considering it is only a 2-megapixel camera.
With the Samsung Convoy being an EV-DO phone, you do get access to V Cast so you can watch streaming video and listen to music, as well as download music. For surfing the Internet you get a mobile web browser, plus you can also download games too.
The Samsung Convoy offers great call quality; voices sound natural and the volume level is good. There is little to no hissing or static interference from outside sources. On the other hand, the 3G network doesn’t seem to perform as well, being slow and difficult to download music on.
With the Samsung Convoy phones you get 5 hours of talk time and over 22 days of standby time. If you need a rugged phone for work, or just when you are enjoying the outdoors, you might want to look at the Samsung Convoy; this mobile offers durability, as well as some very nice features.
