Samsung Alias 2 Review
By admin on March 31st, 2010
When you first look at the Samsung Alias cell phone it doesn’t appear to be anything special, it has sharp angles and is slightly large for a mobile, measuring 4.01 X 2.04 X 0.67 inches and weighs a hefty 4.34 ounces. This phone feels solid when you hold it in your hand, though you will notice the extra weight, keep in mind that this weight is due to all of the added features that come with the Samsung Alias.
On the outside of the phone is a 1.3-inch screen that display signal strength, photo caller ID, time, date, etc. The main display measures 2.6-inches and supports 262,000 colors; with this screen you can view pictures that are bright and beautiful.
Some of the features that you get with the Samsung Alias 2 include a phonebook that will hold up to 1,000 contacts, plus you will get all of the usual core features, such as a vibrate mode, a calculator, and a calendar, as well as an alarm clock. There is also a stopwatch, a world clock, and a tip calculator. The Alias 2 isn’t really a smartphone, but you will get some of the same great features that you would find in a smartphone, such as stereo Bluetooth, voice commands and voice dialing, in addition to a file manager. You will also get chat, email and instant messaging, but unfortunately there is no WiFi. There is also a built in GPS, as well as a mobile web browser.
With the Samsung Alias 2 being an EV-DO phone you can watch streaming video and music content right from your phone, though the screen is a little small to watch video comfortably for most people.
One of the extras that you get with the Alias 2 includes a built in 2-megapixel camera that takes still photographs as well as records video. The photo quality is average, though bright colors don’t seem as vibrant as they should.
The call quality that you get with the Samsung Alias 2 cell phone is very good; voices come through loud and clear. The battery life for this mobile is rated for 5 hours of talk time and 16 days of standby time.
