Palm Treo 700p Review

The Palm Treo 700p offers several upgrades from the Treo 650 such as increased memory and EV-DO, as well as offering great multimedia features and a solid performance. When you first look at the Palm Treo 700p cell phones you won’t see a lot of difference between them and the Windows Treo 700w; both of these phones measure the same at 4.4 X 2.3 X 0.9 inches and weigh 6.4 ounces, in addition to having the same dimensions, both models offer QWERTY keyboards, though the 700p does feature a keyboard that is more spacious and easy to use.

On the front of the Palm Treo model 700p is a nice, 2.5-inch display that provides a bright and colorful picture as it supports over 65,000 colors. The display does tend to attract smudges and fingerprints so you might want to invest in a protective cover if you have this phone.

One of the differences that you will find with the Palm Treo 700p is that it offers support for 3G so that you can access the Internet at high speeds, plus this feature will give you faster downloads for your email and attachments. The improved web browser lets you enjoy streaming video and music right from your mobile phone; in addition you will have access to Sprint TV and much more.

Another great feature that you get with the Palm Treo 700p cell phones is that you can use it as a wireless modem to connect to the Internet; this is very useful if you need to connect your laptop to the web when you are traveling. Of course you do get Bluetooth, but the Treo 700p does lack WiFi.

You will also find that the Palm Treo 700p has an improved memory capacity; this phone now features 60 MB of internal memory, plus you can expand the phone’s memory up to 2 GB with a microSD card.

As a business device the Treo 700p features Documents to Go 8 suite; this application allows you to view as well as edit Microsoft Office documents. Some of the calling features that come with this mobile phone include a speakerphone, a vibrate mode, and three-way calling, as well as speed dial.

The Palm Treo 700p does have a built in 1.3-megapixel camera that features 2X zoom and can also record video. You will also get PocketTunes preinstalled on this phone so you never have to lack entertainment.

The call quality of this phone is great; though the Internet speeds are good they are not fantastic. The video quality on streaming content is okay. The Treo 700p is rated for 4 hours of talk time and 12 days of standby time.

Good so far

Apr 12th, 2010

I cant figure out why they insist on placing the headphone jack on the bottom rather than on the side as you can't use it if it is on the cradle. I wish the screen were a little bigger but it still is quite bright and usable even in direct sunlight. Bluetooth works well both with my Jabra headset and my car's system so no problems there.

Internet speed is awesome

Now I really have access to the internet. This phone is like being at home ... it's that fast.

Good but has bugs

Apr 7th, 2010

The treo is a very convenient combination of a phone and organizer. There is a bug with Bluetooth which happens when you turn BT off to save power and turn it back on it fails to operate properly. This is a wide problem, yet they still havent addressed the problem.

If the bug was fixed i'd have given it a 4.5!
