Palm Pixi Plus Review

One of the reasons that the Palm Pixi Plus is considered to be an entry level smartphone is that its performance just doesn’t cut it for a business phone due to running sluggishly at times. This is a good device for those people just starting to use a smartphone because it offers a good browser, as well as an easy to use, multi touch screen.

The Palm Pixi Plus is a stylish and smart looking phone; it has the exact same measurements as the Sprint version of the Palm Pixi, plus you get a 2.63-inch, multi touch screen and a full QWERTY keyboard. Another fun option that you get with the Palm Pixi Plus is the choice of different colored back plates, the colors that you will have to choose from include green, blue, pink, orange, and black.
Aside from the addition of WiFi, some of the features that you get with this phone include 3G, plus there is Bluetooth and built in GPS. To go with the GPS featured with the Palm Pixi Plus, there is Google Maps; this application gives you real time positioning, as well as text based, turn-by-turn directions. You do have the option of using VZ Navigator for voice-guided directions.
Along with these features the Palm Pixi Plus offers several personal management tools including Documents to Go, a PDF reader, plus much more. For multimedia features this phone has a built in media player that will support a variety of file formats including MP3, AAC, AAC+, WAV, and AMR music files, in addition to MPEG-4, H263, and H264 video formats. Getting the media files onto your phone is simple; all that you have to do is connect your phone to your computer via a USB cable. Unfortunately there is no microSD slot included with the Palm Pixi Plus to help with storing your files, but it does come with 8 GB of built in storage.
You will also get a built in 2-megapixel camera that includes flash, though there are no extra editing options. In addition, the photo quality is poorly lacking with pictures coming out dark and grainy.
The call quality that you get with the Palm Pixi Plus is good, plus connection through the 3G network is fast and reliable. As for overall performance, this smartphone isn’t the best available, which is why it probably wouldn’t be a good choice as a business device. The battery life is rated for 5.2 hours of talk time and 12 days of standby time.
