Nokia Surge Review
By admin on March 16th, 2010
The Nokia Surge is a compact smartphone that is a little different than many of the Nokia brand mobiles. This phone runs the Symbian S60 platform and includes several personal organization tools, 3G, and Assisted GPS, and although this phone may appear as if it has its focus on business, it is being marketed as a phone for the younger generations.
With the Nokia Surge phone you can easily access Social Networking sites, plus messaging is made easy with the included full QWERTY keyboard. No matter what your age is, if you want a phone that offers more features than the basic messaging cell phone, you’ll love the Nokia Surge 6790.
The Nokia 6790 Surge may be a lot smaller than what you might expect; it measures 3.8 x 2.2 x 0.6 inches and weighs 4.3 ounces, which is a little heavier than most smartphones. On the front of this phone you’ll find a 2.4-inch QVGA display that supports 16 million colors at a 320x240 resolution. Graphics and text are clear and bright, but probably not quite as vibrant as what you would find on some of the other smartphones that are available. Another problem that you might find with this display is that it really is too small for comfortably viewing videos and web pages, so there will be some scrolling involved.
It’s true that the Nokia Surge is very small and compact, but it is just as powerful as other smartphones, it runs on the Symbian's S60 platform, which may be a little behind the times for a smartphone operating system, it does what it is suppose to do. Some of what you’ll find featured with this mobile include Microsoft Exchange, as well as support for web based email, such as Windows Live, Yahoo, and more.
If you do use the Nokia Surge phone for work, there is QuickOffice so that you can view and edit Office documents right from your phone; in addition, you also get a PDF viewer. Although the Surge may not be directly marketed to the business professional, it is still useful for staying productive while you are away from your office.
One of the most attractive features of the Nokia Surge is that it caters to Social Networking so the user has easy access to their Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace accounts.
Some of the extras that you’ll get with the Surge include a 2-megapixel camera that features several photography modes; unfortunately the pictures are not high quality so don’t throw away your digital camera.
If you want something more than an average messaging phone, take a look at the Nokia Surge, it offers everything you want from a smartphone, but in a compact and stylish design.
