Motorola Hint Review
By admin on March 8th, 2010
With the Motorola Hint QA30 you get a cell phone with an unusual square design. This is a phone that does well in some areas, but there are a few flaws so you’ll probably what to look at one for yourself before you make any decisions to buy.
The Motorola Hint measures 3.32 x 2.43 x 0.6 inches and weighs 4.13 ounces; it has a sturdy slider mechanism, and the phone has a solid feel to it when you hold it in your hand. The display on this phone has a higher resolution than many of the Motorola phones so you do get a better picture.
Some of the bad points of the Motorola Hint QA30 include the fact that the battery cover does not seem too secure, and the navigation buttons tend to stick slightly. Using the keyboard may also be a problem; although the keys are raised, the design still makes it difficult to hit them accurately.
The features that you get with the Motorola Hint QA30 include a 700 contact phonebook, and core features like a vibrate mode, a date book, and an alarm clock. In addition you also get a world clock, a calculator, and a speakerphone, as well as a notepad. There are also just enough advanced features that come with the Hint to keep it from being just a plain, basic cell phone. This phone has a voice recorder, as well as voice dialing, Bluetooth, and support for web-based email. Of course there is also text messaging.
Another nice feature of the Motorola Hint is the built in 2-megapixel camera that includes several advanced photography modes, and five different resolution settings. This camera can also record video, which is always a nice extra. The photo and video quality you get is about average for a camera phone.
For multimedia you get a basic music player that supports a variety of different audio formats including, MP3, AAC, AAC+, WAV, and WMA. The sound quality is okay, but not as good as what you get with a mobile that focuses mainly on multimedia.
The call quality of the Hint is good, with calls coming through loud and clear. This phone does support 3G with the Cricket Network, so this is definitely a nice feature. The battery life is rated for 4.5 hours and 15 days of standby time.
The primary focus of the Motorola Hint QA30 appears to be on messaging, but there are some problems with the design that keep it from being a good messaging phone, so you may want to test it before you buy. There are several other phones of the same class that will be much more efficient as a messaging phone.
