Motorola Droid Review
By admin on March 3rd, 2010
When you first look at the Droid by Motorola it probably won’t appear to be all that much different than a lot of other smartphones on the market, but you will find that this one does offers some great features. The first thing you will notice is that it is designed with a beautiful 3.7-inch screen. It’s hard not to fall in love with the display on the Droid, as it is even better than what you get on the iPhone.
It’s not surprising that a phone with such a large screen would be big; the Droid Motorola measures 4.56 x 2.36 x 0.54 inches and weights over 5 ounces. This is big, but if you like a large screen on your phone, the bulkier size will be worth it. The screen features capacitive touch, which is very responsive and easy to use. It also has multi touch features, which mean that you can easily zoom in on web pages with just a couple taps on the screen. In addition to this, you can customize the screen’s backlighting and brightness.
Although the display is captivating and nice, there is more to this phone than its screen; when you slide open the Droid by Motorola you’ll see a physical keyboard. The keys are a little cramped so typing out text messages and email might not be a quick and easy job, unless you have very small fingers.
Some of the other features you get with the Motorola Droid include support for Gmail and POP3 and IMAP accounts, in addition to this, there is some support for Social Networking sites, such as Facebook. With the Android 2.0 operating system you do get an improved web browser that features a full HTML viewing experience and zoom, plus web pages load faster.
You will also get GPS, and now you also get Google Maps navigation, in addition there is now text to speech for turn-by-turn navigation. One of the best aspects of the GPS on the Droid Motorola it’s free; you won’t have to signup for a subscription.
The built in media player is about the same as in past Android models; you’ll get support for a variety of audio file formats including, MP3, AAC, AMR-NB, WAV, and MIDI, as well as Windows Media Audio 9, plus you can download songs from the Amazon MP3 store.
Some other great features of the Droid by Motorola include 3G, and WiFi; the call quality is good with strong signals and the audio coming through loud and clear.
If you are looking for a high quality smartphone for business or personal use, the Droid Motorola is worth looking at, and on contract, it’s even affordable.
