Motorola Debut Review
By admin on March 8th, 2010
Normally “push to talk phones” are really quite bulky, but with the Motorola Debut i856 you get a slim, sleek slider phone with a lot to offer. With this phone you get a lot of what you would expect from a Nextel, but it measures 4.19 x 2.0 x 0.59 inches so it is slimmer and comes with a black coating and silver trim. The Debut is also lightweight and comfortable to hold, weighing only 2.99 ounces.
The Motorola i856 Debut does feature a 2.2-inch display, which is larger than what you see with most push to talk phones, but the resolution is still not too good. Beneath the display you will find several navigation keys, and although the keys are in a good location to make navigation easy, they seem to stick slightly.
Some of the features that come with the Motorola Debut include enough room in the phonebook to store up to 600 contacts, and of course the phone’s core features consist of vibrate mode, a speakerphone, and a date book, as well as a memo pad. There is also an alarm clock, and a voice recorder. Included with the feature set of the Debut is Push to Talk service, text and multimedia messaging, Bluetooth, GPS and a web browser.
There is also a built in music player that is really better than what you might expect. The software for this music player can organize your music, plus it also supports podcasts, which is always a plus. The music player on the Debut supports a variety of different file formats, including AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, AMR-NB, AMR-WB, QCP, MP3, WAV, RA, and WMA. To get the music on your phone there is slot for a microSD card.
Another nice feature that comes with the Motorola Debut i856 is a built in 1.3-megapixel camera, that has two quality settings, as well as a few different photography modes, such as night mode. The camera on this mobile also records video, that features three different quality settings.
The Debut has 70MB of internal memory and you can expand the memory up to 8GB with a microSD card. The call quality is good, with audio coming through loud and clear plus there is little to no static at all. Music playback is also very good. The battery life of this phone is rated for 3.4 hours of talk time and about 4 days of standby time.
The Motorola Debut i856 offers a sleek slider phone design, but still has the Push to Talk feature, as well as many advanced features that you might not expect from one of these phones. Call quality is great, and aside from having a low-resolution screen this phone performs well. If you are interested in one of these phones and want to find the Motorola Debut lowest price, the best place to look is online.
