Motorola i680 Review

With the Motorola i680 you get a solid, heavy phone that measures 3.92 x 2.09 x 1 inches and weighs a hefty 5.63 ounces. The i680 has a hard plastic and rubber finish that help make this phone one of the most solid and durable mobiles on the market today. There is no doubt when you look at the Motorola Brute that you are getting a phone that is made for work, it feels solid in your hand, and it shouldn’t even get a scratch if you drop it on concrete.

The external display on the Motorola Brute i680 is small, but it does support photo Caller ID, plus this display can double as a viewfinder for the built in camera that comes with this phone. The internal display measures 2.2-inches and supports 65,000 colors. This isn’t the best display you can get, but colors are still bright and the picture is sharp; it looks great and is just right for the class of phone you get with the Brute.
Some of the features you get with the Motorola i680 include enough room in your phonebook for up to 600 contacts, and as this is a Nextel phone you will also get Direct Connect PTT services. In addition, there are some basic features, such as a vibrate mode, text and multimedia messaging, as well as a memo pad, and a speakerphone. There are also call timers, and an alarm clock, as well as a date book.
The Motorola Brute i680 does offer a few high-end features like Bluetooth, USB mass storage, and a voice recorder. In addition to this you also get GPS, which works with Sprint’s TeleNav service. There is also a built in 2-megapixel camera that features some editing and special photography modes, plus you can record video with this camera.
Another nice feature that comes with the Motorola i680 is a music player. Although this player is basic you will have the ability to take a variety of music with you wherever you go. You will also be able to surf the Internet with the mobile web browser, but don’t expect this browser to compare to those you would get on a smartphone.
With the Brute you get 160MB of internal memory and you can expand the memory with a microSD card of up to 8GB. The battery life of this phone is rated for 5 hours, which is about average for one of these phones, unfortunately if you use the Motorola Brute i680 for work, it may not last the entire day, depending on how much heavy use it gets.
