Motorola Barrage Review

The Motorola Barrage is a rugged phone that can withstand a lot of abuse, but unlike most Motorola cell phones, the Barrage is not a Nextel phone, but is carried by Verizon. This mobile comes with a durable plastic casing, and rubber sides, plus it is waterproof.

When you buy a Motorola Z860 Barrage, you won’t be getting a stylish and sleek cell phone, but what you will be getting is a phone that is durable, and offers some great features. The Barrage measures 3.78 x 2.09 x 0.96 inches and weighs 4.2 ounces. There is a small, 1-inch external display that supports 65,000 colors. The external display shows the date, signal strength and photo caller ID. When you flip open the Motorola Barrage you will see a larger, 2.2-inch screen that supports 65,000 colors. Though this display does not compare with the screens on many mobile phones, it is adequate to fit most needs.

Some of the features that you get with the Motorola Barrage cell phone include a phonebook that will hold up to 1,000 contacts. Of course you do get some core features such as text and multimedia messaging, a calculator, a calendar, and an alarm clock. The Barrage also has a stopwatch, a notepad, and a world clock. Some additional features that are more advanced include Bluetooth, instant messaging, voice commands, GPS, and a voice recorder.

With the Motorola Barrage you get access to your email, in addition you can also use the phone as a modem to connect to the Internet. These are great features to have if you don’t like being tied to your desk.

Like a number of mobile phones of today, the Barrage does come with a few multimedia features, such as a built in 2-megapixel camera that does have the capability of recording video. Another nice feature that comes with this mobile is 3G; with this you can access streaming video and music online, plus browse the Internet at high speeds.

For entertainment the Motorola Barrage cell phone has a built in music player so that you can take your favorite music with you wherever you go. To store your multimedia files, this phone has 132MB of internal storage, plus you can expand the phone’s memory up to 16GB with a memory card.

The call quality you get with the Barrage is fair, but the volume should probably be a little higher. This phone offers an excellent battery life; it is rated for 6.38 hours of talk time and 22 days of standby time.

The Motorola Barrage is a durable, high quality phone that gives you all of the essentials, along with some great extras, and at a reasonable price.
