Motorola Backflip Review

The first Google Android mobile phone for AT&T is the Motorola Backflip and although this phone does offer a couple of nice features, including a rear QWERTY keyboard, it is a disappointing device as an Android phone. The first problem is that it runs Android 1.5; in addition, it tends to have some major performance issues.

The best feature of the Blackflip Motorola is definitely its design; this device is a flip phone and it is very compact, measuring 4.25 x 2.08 x 0.6 inches. When in the closed position you will find that the keyboard is on the back of the phone; it is very spacious and easy to use.

On the front of the Motorola Backflip is a 3.1-inch capacitive touchscreen, and although this display does support 256,000 colors, it just doesn’t seem as bright and colorful as what you get with similar cell phones.

Another feature of this phone is the Motoblur software; with this you can easily merge all of your contact information with social networking accounts such as Twitter and Facebook. Of course you will get all of the usual Android applications, including access to the Android Market, the Amazon MP3 store, plus there is a browser, as well as Google Talk, Google Maps, Gmail and much more.

For the professional, the Motorola Backflip includes QuickOffice suite so that you can view, as well as edit Microsoft documents. This phone also offers some great entertainment options; these include streaming music and video, as well as access to AT&T WiFi hotspots, and quad-band world roaming. Some additional features that come with this mobile include Bluetooth and Assisted GPS.

One of the extras that come with the Blackflip Motorola include a 5-megapixel camera with built in LED flash. The picture quality is not great; photos tend to appear a little foggy so it will definitely not replace your stand-alone digital camera.

The call quality that you get with the Motorola Android Backflip is fair, voices sound loud and clear on your end, but you may sound a little muffled to those you are talking to on the other end. The 3G network does provide quick connections, which is a nice feature to have. The battery life is rated for 6 hours and up to 13.5 days of standby time.

When you start shopping you will find that the Motorola Backflip price isn’t low, but with a contract you could still get a decent deal. Before you buy, make sure you shop online for the best price for this phone so that you don’t end up overpaying. Many of the mobile phone sites online can point you in the right direction to get the best deal possible when buying the Motorola Backflip.

The metal body gives the phone a great feel. Battery life could be better, The sensitivity of the screen is amazing with bright colours. The keyboard being on the outside is a bit weird but a nice change.

Fast and efficient phone. Stylish. Has a very responsive touch screen, which is clear and bright. Battery life could be a little better. Texting is easy and the calls are crisp and audible.
