Motorola ACTV Review
By admin on March 31st, 2010
With the Motorola ACTV Canary Yellow you do get a durable cell phone that offers decent call quality, and some extras such as a 1.3-megapixel camera and Bluetooth, but the Bluetooth support does not include stereo.
When you hold the Motorola ACTV in your hand you will easily be able to tell that it is a solidly built device. This phone measures 4.18 x 1.80 x 0.74 inches and weighs 3.5 ounces. You do get an external display, but it is very small, only about the size of a postage stamp. The screen will display the time, date and numeric caller ID. When you open the phone there is an internal display that measures 1.75-inches and supports 65,000 colors.
Some of the basic features that come with the Motorola ACTV Canary Yellow include a phonebook to store your contacts, a vibrate mode, as well as text and multimedia messaging. There is also a speakerphone, a calculator, a calendar, and an alarm clock, in addition to a world clock, and a stopwatch, plus USB mass storage, instant messaging, and a voice recorder.
One of the extras that come with this mobile includes a built in 1.3-megapixel camera, though this feature is a disappointment. Photo quality is not good at all; the colors are washed out and the pictures have a pinkish tinge to them.
The call quality that you get with the Motorola ACTV Canary Yellow is okay, but you may find that the volume level is a little low, plus there at times you will have some problems with background noise. The speakerphone sound quality was average for a cell phone, but there did tend to be some muffling. The automated call system works well enough most of the time.
The battery life of the ACTV is rated for 7.5 hours of talk time and 10.4 days of standby time. This is a durable phone that you will feel good about taking with you on your hiking and camping trips, but don’t expect the same quality features that come with some of the high end phones of today.
