LG LX290 Review
By admin on March 8th, 2010
Although the market is dominated by a lot of fancy, multi feature phones, there are still some people that prefer a basic phone like the LG LX290. With the LG LX290 phone you won’t get much in the way of extras; there is no music player or 3G but what you do get is GPS, a basic 1.3-megapixel camera, as well as Bluetooth, and you get all of this at an affordable price.
The LG LX290 is a slider phone that is really very attractive; it measures 4.09 x 1.94 x 0.63 inches and weighs 3.6 ounces. On the front there is a 2.17-inch display that features 262,000 colors and a resolution of 240x320-pixels. This handset feels high quality, and it fits in your hand comfortably.
When you slide the phone open there is a numeric keypad, and some shortcut keys. Some of the features that come with the LG LX290 include a phonebook capable of holding up to 600 contacts, a speakerphone, as well as text and multimedia messaging. Some of the additional basic features that come with this phone include a vibrate mode, an alarm clock, and a calendar. There is a world clock, a calculator, and a notepad, in addition to a unit converter.
The LG LX290 phone does offers a few advanced features such as GPS, a wireless web browser and voice control. Of course there is support for a variety of email options, plus instant messaging, such as Windows Live, Yahoo and AIM. These are all great features for a budget mobile phone.
Another feature of the LX290 is the built in 1.3-inch camera; although it is a basic camera there are few settings to help you take better pictures, such as night mode and a self-timer. The quality of the photographs taken with this phone is not the best, but better than what you might expect for an inexpensive camera phone.
You can personalize this phone with a variety of different wallpapers, screensavers, and alert tones, plus you will find that there are some preloaded games to help with entertainment, although they are demo versions. If you want the full version of these games you will have to purchase them.
The call quality you get with the LG LX290 isn’t bad at all; with a strong signal, calls come through loud and clear. The battery life of this mobile is rated for 6 hours of talk time and 7 days of standby time. Although the battery life for this phone isn’t magnificent, it is about average for budget mobile.
Even though the LG LX290 phone is inexpensive, it is still a very good choice; you will get some nice features, as well as good call quality.
