Helix LG Pink Review
By admin on March 8th, 2010
If you have read a review of LG Helix Pink you probably know that this is the first LG phone for Cricket that offers Advanced Wireless Service. Although the Helix LG Pink does not have a music player or 3G, and doesn’t offer the greatest in call quality, you do get a basic phone that will probably provide acceptable performance.
The LG Helix phone comes in a simple flip design; it measures 3.6 x 1.9 x 0.7 inches and weighs about 3 ounces. You will get a phone that fits easily in your pocket, and although it feels a little chunky, it’s not too bad to carry around with you. There is a small external display where you can view the Caller ID, and when you flip open the phone there is a 2-inch display of 265,000 colors. With the Helix you can personalize the home screen to a certain extent by changing the wallpaper, greeting banner, etc.
With the LG Helix Pink you do have the option of downloading more wallpapers and other applications from the Cricket store. The Helix does come with a couple of preinstalled games, including Where’s Waldo and Super Street Fighter. You can also get services such as MyPerks, which is a service that will provide you with information on discounts and specials from a variety of retailers around the world.
There is enough room for 1000 contacts in the phonebook, plus you can enter additional information for each contact, such as an email addresses and more. In addition to this, there is support for Bluetooth and voice command. Although the Helix LG Pink doesn’t offer a lot of extras, it does feature a 1.3-megapixel camera that comes with several modes that make taking photographs easier, including a timer, a night mode, and zoom. Considering that it is only a 1.3-megapixel camera, the photo quality is fairly good.
The call quality you get with the LG Helix phone is probably not as good as it should be. You may find that there is a problem with hearing the person on the other end due to fading in and out, plus there is some sound quality problem for the people on the other end. The speakerphone quality is probably a little better, but there is still a tinny sound to it.
The battery life for the LG Helix Pink is rated for about 5 hours of talk time, and over 18 hours of standby time. With the Helix you get a basic flip phone that includes Bluetooth, a camera, and a speakerphone, but even for a basic mobile it does have some problems with call performance.
Considering the cost, the LG Helix Pink really isn’t that great of a deal; if you want a good quality basic phone you’ll probably want to look elsewhere.
