LG Cosmos 2 Review
By Ruben Corbo on November 1st, 2011
The phone is 4.41 inches in height, 2.06 inches in width and 0.63 inch thick. It is a compact design and has an appealing quality to it, with its curved edges giving it an air of style and comfort. The phone has a 2-inch colour display with a resolution of 320x240. The slide-out keyboard emerges from the left and is revealed by sliding the display to the right. The sliding works well and the mechanism has a solid lock.

The phone features a microUSB port and 3.5mm jack, a nice addition over the previous model (which sported a dated 2.5mm jack). The phone has an abundance of room for contacts, with a capacity of 1,000 phonebook entries. In comes with all the trimmings usually expected on a feature phone of this variety, with polyphonic ringtones, alarm clocks, stop watches and other essential applications.
The slide-out keyboard is of a solid design with a quality, refined finish. Its keys are easy to press and overall, the phone at landscape feels comfortable in your hands. It is a certainly a phone made for messaging.
The performance of the phone doesn’t leave much to complain about it. Feature phones of its variety do not tend to be demanding and the phone’s hardware meets all its needs to an acceptable standard. Its options for messaging include text, multimedia messages and supports Mobile E-mail. This can be tied into your Hotmail, Gmail and all other mail accounts. The phone also features shortcuts to all the major social networking websites such as Facebook and Twitter. They are not inbuilt applications, and so do not benefit from the same speeds, but are nevertheless welcome conveniences.
The camera stands at a relatively low 1.3-megapixel. For a camera of this low spec, you wouldn’t expect much from the pictures but they do pleasantly surprise. They aren’t great, but are certainly not so bad that it is rendered useless. The phone has a battery life of 6 hours and 10 minutes talk time, which is a modest improvement over the precious model.
Overall the phone delivers a solid performance. As previously stated, this is a phone geared towards messenger services. It does not have the benefits of the modern smart phones, but it does present a positive user friendly experience. The phone simply retains a basic standard to suit some basic needs – it has its own appeal to those seeking a simpler experience with their phone.
