HTC Hero Review
By admin on March 3rd, 2010
Although there are many Android phones on the market, the HTC Hero is different in a couple of ways; one of the differences is that it has such a unique and nice design, plus it offers a great user interface. Some of what makes this phone so special is its almost seamless integration of Google applications, a nice web browser, as well as supporting access to numerous third party applications.
The HTC Hero is a little bulkier than the Magic, but it has a fantastic design, with a leather type finish on the back and glass on the front so that the Hero has an air of sleek sophistication. The touch display on the HTC Hero Android is very responsive and easy to use. Although the Hero is fast, if you have ever used the comparable, iPhone 3Gs, you will notice that the iPhone is much faster.
For sending text messages and email there is a virtual keyboard, which is so much nicer than trying to type out messages on a numeric keypad, although a physical QWERTY keyboard is really preferable. Web browsing on the HTC Hero with Google is very good; especially as it features pinch and zoom, which makes for a much better surfing experience. You can view YouTube videos on this phone, but there is no support for Hulu videos.
Some additional features of the HTC Hero include a PDF viewer so that you can view PDF email attachments; this is nice for the business user. You also get a camera that will take photos that are of high enough quality for the web, but the camera on the Nokia N97 is better.
With the HTC Hero Android you get some good entertainment options; music playback is great, but there isn’t a text to speech search option, which can make finding a particular song, a hassle. Another plus is that you get a 3.5mm jack connector so you can use your own headphones to listen to music. Although you can view YouTube video on this phone, the quality could be a lot better, as it is a little sluggish.
The Map application that comes with the HTC Hero works well, you should have no problem finding your way around with this tool. Many people will also like the voice command option, which makes using this phone even easier.
The HTC Hero with Google is a nice Android phone; for the most part it does exactly what it is suppose to do, plus it offers great call quality too. It is a little slower than the iPhone 3Gs, but if you can get a good deal on it, the Hero should be well worth the investment.
