HTC Evo 3D Review

Whether it is just playing around, calling, or using some of the more hardware demanding apps, the improvements on hardware spec give the phone’s operation a slicker feel. This is similarly true of the new improved user interface. The phone runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread, using the latest version of HTC Sense. The graphical interface offered by Sense is one of the most attractive about – it is vibrant, sharp and easy to manage. The latest version offers greater speeds all-round.
That same slick, stream-lined characteristic is additionally true of its design. Though it shares a similar design to the HTC Evo 4G, it has slight improvements which give it an overall refined appeal. The phone is 5 inches tall, 2.6 inches wide and 0.48 inch thick. Though on paper this might not seem much different to its predecessor, revisions have in fact been made to the side of the phone as well as an added textured surface on the back. These slight (though still significant) changes give the phone a nicer handling feel.In a market of increasingly slimmer and lighter phones, the HTC Evo 3D stands strong amongst its competition. It may not have either of these characteristics in abundance, but it has them enough to not distract the user from the other advantages of the phone.
The phone offers a great, high resolution Super LCD screen. It measures 4.3 inches in size and supports a 540x960 resolution. The colours are sharp and the image is clear and crisp. These are things you’d probably expect, however, from a phone that boasts 3D capability. The 3D is a smart addition to the phone. It uses parallax barrier technology to allow for 3D viewing without the need of 3D glasses. Though 3D has often been seen as a gimmicky feature, it does present a nice addition to the phone. Overall, should you be someone who is interested in watching 3D film or playing 3D games, you will not be disappointed with the relative quality of the 3D. The one fallback to this is that it has a very limited viewing angle. It is thus better suited for viewing at a straight angle.
The phone has a 5 megapixel camera, which can record video in 1080p (2D) and 720p (3D). Recorded 3D videos can be played back on the phone. Be careful, however, as the phone has very limited internal storage space. This will make recording anything difficult, not to mention the taxing data requirement of 3D video. It comes with 4gb of internal memory, with only 1gb of that being available to the user. You can, however, subsidise this with a memory card of up to 32gb – though this will come at additional cost.
