HTC Droid Eris Review
By admin on March 3rd, 2010
The Droid Eris by HTC is a smaller, and simpler Android phone. You do get many of the Android features, but at a less expensive price. With this phone you basically get the same design as you do with the HTC Hero; it has rounded corners and a soft touch plastic finish and feels very solid. The HTC Droid Eris measures 4.45 x 2.19 inches x 0.51 inches and weighs 4.23 ounces, so this phone is just the right size to slip into your handbag or pocket, plus it is comfortable to hold in your hand.
Another very nice feature of the HTC Eris Droid is its large, 3.2-inch HVGA capacitive touchscreen that offers an amazingly sharp and colorful picture. On this screen text is easy to see and images are bright and clear. Some additional features of the screen include light sensing technology, as well as an accelerometer so that the screen will change positions as the position of the phone changes. Though this feature doesn’t work with all of the applications, but it does work with email, the web browser, etc. With light sensing technology, the brightness of the display will automatically adjust according to the your lighting environment.
The Droid Eris by HTC comes with lots of useful features that include voice dialing, a calculator, a speakerphone, and a voice recorder, as well as WiFi. Of course you also get access to YouTube, Google Maps and more. There are also several email and messaging options with this phone; you will have access to web based email accounts, as well as your corporate email. You can also view a variety of email attachments with the QuickOffice application and the PDF viewer.
Some additional applications that you get with the HTC Eris Droid include the ability to get a weather feed right to your phone, plus you can download more applications, as well as games from the Android store.
With the Droid Eris by HTC you will also get flash support, this means that you will be able to watch flash video, but there does seem to still be some bugs to work out as the video is jerky and the audio isn’t high quality. In general, the web browsing experience on this phone is good, especially with the multi touch technology, you can be viewing several different web pages at a time.
The call quality of the HTC Eris Droid is good with strong reception and there shouldn’t be a problem with dropped calls, depending on where you are. The volume on calls should probably be a little higher in order to hear comfortably. With average use, the battery in the Droid Eris by HTC should last for about 5 hours or more, and you will get about 15 days of standby time.
