We all know how obsessed younger people can be when it comes to their cell phones, with many loathe to be without their phones at any time of the day, including when they are supposed to be studying at school. It seems that youngsters are so keen to have their cell phones with them at all times that some have even been smuggling them into class in their boots! It has been revealed that one middle school in Pennsylvania has now banned the wearing of outdoor boots in class to stop students from smuggling in their cell phones and smart phones, which can cause a real distraction when it comes to learning in the opinion of many people.
The move means that fashionable outdoor wear such as Ugg boots will now be banned from the classroom at the school, which is the Pottstown Middle School. The school forbids all devices such as phones and tablets from the classroom and the policy is that they must be placed in lockers and turned off during school hours – something that many students were not willing to do.
A letter was sent to the homes of the students by school officials, stating: "Students may continue to wear outdoor boots to and from school to protect them from cold, snow and ice but need to change into a pair of sneakers or shoes before entering homeroom. Students may also continue to wear lace up, tight at the ankle, boots, shoes and high top sneakers."
