As games go, Angry birds is easily one of the most entertaining games to be released on the iPhone and could even be the best game ever released considering its popularity and addictive nature.
The game itself is incredibly simple to pick up at the beginning but as the levels progress the games simplicity seems to fade away into tear- inducing frustration, as single levels need to be repeated over and over again until the urge to throw your phone against the wall becomes overwhelming! Yet, intriguingly you still feel compelled and determined to continue...
The plot to Angry Birds involves a group of seriously upset avians that are launching a full scale assault on a group of evil pigs that have stolen their eggs. This assault involves a slingshot and a group of birds with a desperate urge to launch themselves at the aforementioned pigs and the destructible structures they are hiding in.
The thing that makes the game so entertaining whilst at the same time unbelievably frustrating is the strategy and planning that goes into playing each level. Not only do players have to work out the correct trajectory for the small group of birds they are firing from the slingshot, they must also take into account the different special abilities each bird has in order to complete each level.
Whilst some levels can be completed on a single attempt there are other levels that can be so annoyingly complex it requires getting every flight vector spot on and in many cases using the fight bird power in the right place to complete the level, which can really take some doing.
One of the biggest challenges of the game is the star rating for each level which essentially means that not only do players have to actually wipe out the evil pigs but they also need to earn as many points as possible to earn their stars. Getting one, two or three stars requires a set number of points to be earned and this can be done in a number of ways including destroying as many of the structures as possible and blowing the pigs up using as few birds as possible.
Overall the low price tag on this game combined with the incredible playability of the game makes it an absolute must for any iPhone owner and is worth every single penny.
