Blackberry Torch 9850 Review

But what else lurks beneath the exterior of the Blackberry Torch 9850, and how convincing is it as an alternative to the rest of the touch screen smart phones? The phone is nicely sized at 4.72 inches high by 2.44 inches wide, measuring 0.45 inches thick. This leaves plenty of room for the 3.7 inch screen and four essential buttons plus an optical track pad on the bottom section of the phone.

The TFT touch screen offers 16 million colors with 480 by 800 pixels, offering more in quality than some of the other smart phones on the market. It doesn’t quite hit the highest of heights but it does offer you plenty to get your teeth into.
Another key feature of every smart phone is of course the camera. But how does the Blackberry Torch 9850 stand up when compared to the competition? Well it actually offers a reasonably impressive 5 megapixel camera giving 2592 by 1944 pixels, together with an LED flash and autofocus to help you get the most from your pictures. With geo-tagging and face detection thrown in for good measure, users of the Blackberry Torch 9850 certainly get more than they might have bargained for.
The Blackberry brand is familiar to most as being the brand of choice for business users. But this entrant to the range feels more like a phone designed for pleasure, and it certainly packs in a lot of features catering to all manner of different people. The social feeds, media player and video player are all there to appeal to many diverse users, while the document viewer is designed to placate those users who still have business needs at the forefront of their mind. This offers Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
It’s plain to see that the Blackberry Torch 9850 is a new entrant to the Blackberry range, moving away from the more traditional and giving us something rather different. But does it work? In our opinion the answer is yes.
