Blackberry 8220 Red Review
By admin on March 2nd, 2010
The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 Red is a stylish and compact phone, and although it is like many other BlackBerry cell phones, this handset has been condensed down and molded into the classic clamshell design.
Even though the BlackBerry Pearl 8220 Flip is compact, you’ll find that it still has many of the same great features that the BlackBerry is known for, such as great email and messaging capabilities, as well as numerous business tools that make this a popular phone with the business user. Due to the fact that the 8220 offers an easy interface, as well as some nice multimedia features, it could really be a good smartphone for those who are just making the transition from basic cell phone, but it can also be a great choice even for advanced users.
With the BlackBerry Pearl 8220 Red you get the SureType keyboard; this keyboard requires time to get accustomed to, but once you are familiar with how to use it, the keyboard is very efficient. The screen measures 2.4-inches and provides a clear and bright picture. Viewing images on this display is a treat, though it is somewhat small. In addition to the interior screen, there is also a small exterior display that shows the user when there is a message waiting, battery life, and caller ID.
Reception and call quality on the BlackBerry 8220 Flip is good with call coming in clear and crisp. The battery life on this phone is also excellent, with up to five hours of talk time. There are a number of calling features that come with this phone; many of these features are common to the BlackBerry.
You will get some nice messaging options with the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 Red, such as great email features, including support for up to 10 email accounts, plus you’ll have access to your corporate email in real time. Aside from email, you also have the option of using instant messaging as this phone comes with AOL, MSN, Yahoo, and Gtalk as well as BlackBerry Messenger.
There are also some great multimedia features, plus you can access the Internet and have a pleasant experience surfing the net with the included web browser. The BlackBerry 8220 does come with a 2-megapixel camera, though you will not likely be too impressed with the photo quality you get with this camera. The GPS that comes with this phone might make it worth overlooking the lack of a quality camera; with the GPS you will be able to find your way around no matter where you are.
The BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 Red does have some performance issues, such as lag, but for an entry-level smartphone, it’s really not too bad, plus it is very affordable.
