Blackberry Pearl 8120 Frost Review

When RIM released the first BlackBerry Pearl, it officially made the transition from a business device to one of the most popular mobile phones on the market. Now with the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 you get all of the same great features of the original, like a sleek and sexy lightweight design, and easy navigation, but now its an upgraded version.

With the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 you get WiFi, which is almost a necessity when you buy a mobile phone. With WiFi you can make unlimited calls when near a hotspot, as long as the feature is part of your calling plan.

The BlackBerry has always been a phone with its focus on email and text messages, which is why its not surprising that the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 would feature a great keyboard, and although it is not a full QWERTY keyboard, it is fairly easy to use.

You will get a slightly upgraded 2-megapixel camera, and now it will also take video, which is something that the original Pearl did not do. This camera won’t be able to compete with other mobile phones that put a lot of emphasis on the camera, but it does do okay for quick snapshots when you need it. You can share your pictures and video by way of instant messaging. You can also post to Social Networking sites like Facebook.

The BlackBerry isn’t exactly known as a multimedia focused smartphone, but with the introduction of the 8120 BlackBerry, the device does get more multimedia friendly. You can listen to music in stereo, wirelessly, or play video thanks to the Bluetooth technology that comes with this phone. Keeping files with you is easy, as this phone has a microSD card slot that supports up to 8GB. You can easily transfer files with a USB, plus there is Roxio Media Manager that will help your files.

Some additional extras that you’ll find with the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 Frost includes organization tools for the busy professional, such as a calendar, voice recorder for taking memos, you can even synchronize with Microsoft Outlook. You get all of this in a phone that measures only 4.2" X 2.0" X 0.6. The Battery of the BlackBerry 8120 is rated for about 4 hours of talk time. The call quality BlackBerry Pearl 8120 is great, calls are loud and clear; this is true even with the speakerphone, but most BlackBerry models offer great voice calling.

You can get the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 Frost at a great price if you buy on contract through a mobile phone service provider. If you want a phone that is as good for personal use as for business, the BlackBerry 8120 is a good choice.

Pearl 8120

Apr 6th, 2010

This smartphone has a great design and fits in the pocket. The reception is always clear and crisp on calls. The camera is adequite, pic's come out clear. Battery has tendency to run down fast but I recommend a backup batt or turning the wifi off when not needed as this really drains the battery even when not in use. I am recommending this phone to everyone.
