Blackberry Curve 8900 Review

The BlackBerry 8900 Curve measures 4.3" x 2.4" x .5" so you get a phone that is nearly identical in height and weight as the earlier model, though when you hold it in your hand you can tell that it is a little thinner. The keyboard on this phone is great, and you will easily be able to type out text messages and emails, though if you have larger fingers you may find it a little cramped.
You won’t get a touchscreen with the Blackberry Curve 8900, but you will get a nice display that measures 2.4-inches across. The build quality is solid, and when holding this phone in your hand it feels nice, with the rubber finish on the side of the phone.
Like most BlackBerry models, you do get great call quality with the sound coming through loud and clear, even when using the speakerphone. The battery life of the BlackBerry 8900 is rated for 6 hours of talk time and 19 days of standby time, but the actual battery life that you get will depend on how much you use the phone and its different features.
Although there are improvements to many areas of the 8900 BlackBerry, the main focus of this phone is still on messaging. You can have multiple email accounts that are easy to configure, and have access to corporate email in real time.
Even though the multimedia features of this phone are not its main focus, the BlackBerry 8900 still gives you more than what you would get with the 8300 series. One of the major improvements in this area is the upgraded camera. With this phone you get a 3.2-megapixel camera with auto focus and an LED flash.
In addition with the BlackBerry 8900 Curve, you get a nice music player, and a better web browser, though it can be a little slow at times. There are also personal organizer tools, such as a calendar and calculator.
This new version runs off of the BlackBerry OS version 4.6, which is a lot nice and more modern than the previous models. If you are not familiar with the BlackBerry interface, you may be a little confused in the beginning, but once you become accustomed to it, you’ll find that it is one of the most efficient mobile operating system available. This is important, especially for business users.
The bottom line is the BlackBerry Curve 8900 is definitely a great smartphone, you get GPS, WiFi, and a better camera. If this device offered 3G, it would be just about everything you could want in a mobile.
