Blackberry Curve 8530 Violet Review

Although not a high-end phone, the BlackBerry Curve 8530 smoky violet does offer an updated processor, dedicated media controls, and WiFi, which is important for most mobile phone users today. Some of the phone features that you get with this device include a speakerphone; voice activated dialing, conference calling, as well as smart dialing. Plus there is multimedia messaging and a phone book that is only limited by the amount of space that you have available.
Some of the management tools that you’ll have available to you with the Blackberry 8530 include a calendar, a task list, and a memo pad, as well as a voice recorder, and a calculator. In addition to these features you also get 3G and the BlackBerry browser, so getting online is not a problem at all. The browser does leave room for improvement though, but all in all it’s not too bad. The browser renders pages a little faster and the speed is better. This is mostly due to better JavaScript and CSS processing.
Like all BlackBerry phones, the strongest point of the BlackBerry 8530 is its email capabilities. With this phone you can have real time access to your corporate email, plus you can have up to 10 email accounts. There is also a document viewer so that you can view attachments in a variety of file formats, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as Corel WordPerfect. You will also be able to view PDF, JPEG, and GIF format. In addition to email, there is multimedia messaging, as well as support for Instant Messaging programs such as Google Talk and Yahoo Messenger.
The BlackBerry Curve 8530 Violet does have a media player that supports several types of music and video files. Although it’s obvious that media is not the main focus of this mobile, the playback quality is good. There is also a basic 2-megapixel-camera with 5x digital zoom and video recording capabilities, but you will not likely get the best picture quality from this camera.
The performance of this smartphone is really good; there is little delay when running applications, and the speed is great. If you don’t mind not having a touchscreen device, the BlackBerry Curve 8530 Violet is a good option, especially if all you need is an entry-level phone.
