Silver Blackberry Curve 8330 Review
By William Harvey on March 2nd, 2010
As for design, the BlackBerry Curve 8330 is much the same as the rest of the Curve series, though it may be slightly bigger. This BlackBerry mobile features 3G, but unfortunately does not offer world roaming so it is a good choice for those that do not need this feature.
Like the rest of the RIM lineup, the BlackBerry 8300 Curve is a great handset for messaging, as this is its main focus. You can easily type out email and text messages with the full QWERTY keyboard, plus you get support for Microsoft Exchange, IBM Lotus Domino, or Novell GroupWise for corporate email delivery. You will also get support for up to 10 POP3 or IMAP4 email accounts.
In addition to these nice email features, you also get a document viewer so that you can view a variety of file formats. For instant messaging, the BlackBerry Curve 8330 Silver supports several Instant Messaging programs, including BlackBerry Messenger, AIM, Yahoo, and Google Talk.
You will also get a lot of good phone features with the silver BlackBerry Curve 8330 such as a speakerphone, voice dialing, and conference calling; plus there is text messaging, as well as multimedia messaging. Some other useful features that come with this smartphone include an address book that is only limited by the available memory. To identify callers, you can add their photo to the call list so it is easy to see who is calling with a simple glance at the screen.
For entertainment you get a built in media player that supports several file formats, including MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+, and AMR-NB, as well as MIDI files, and for video files the media player supports MPEG4, WMV, and H.263.
As for the camera included with the BlackBerry Curve 8330 Silver, it likely isn’t near the same standards that are available on many of today’s smartphones, but the focus of the 8330 Curve isn’t really on media. The 2-megapixel camera is basic and will take some okay pictures, but they won’t be the same quality you can get from a digital camera, though it does have video recording capabilities.
The silver BlackBerry Curve 8330 does offer some nice features, especially when it comes to instant messaging, text, and email, but all the extra features are fairly basic. If you are looking for a mobile that is meant for the business user, this phone is probably a good choice, plus it does have enough features that it can be great for personal use as well.
