Blackberry Bold 9700 Review

Some of the features you’ll get with the BlackBerry Bold 9700 include 3G, as well as WiFi, and an updated operating system. This BlackBerry model is a lot more pocket friendly too, measuring 4.29 inches X 2.36 inches X 0.56 inches, with a weight of 4.3 ounces. This is definitely a high quality phone that feels great in your hand.
Of course you are giving up something in exchange for a phone that is more compact, in this case it is display size. The 9700 BlackBerry comes with a 2.44-inch display, which is a little smaller than previous BlackBerry models, though you do still get a clear and bright picture. Viewing web pages and video probably won’t be quite as enjoyable with a smaller screen, but aside from that it isn’t bad at all.
One of the best things about the BlackBerry 9700 Bold is that it is a 3G phone; this is a feature that many people want when they purchase a new mobile phone. The improved operating system gives you a better experience with messaging, and there have also been some improvements to the calendar feature, as well as the browser, though there is room for improvement.
With WiFi, you can make and receive calls when you are near a hotspot and it won’t take away any of your minutes. This in itself is worth a lot and will save you a lot of money on your mobile service, though you may have to add a WiFi feature to your calling plan.
Additional features that come with this phone include quad band world roaming; voice activated dialing, a speakerphone, and conference calling, as well as visual voice mail. The email features of this phone are excellent, you can have up to 10 email accounts, plus there is a viewer and editor so that you can view and edit a variety documents. For instant messaging, the BlackBerry 9700 gives you some good options; it comes preloaded with AIM, Google Talk, ICQ, Yahoo, and Windows Live, as well as BlackBerry Messenger. All of this is not including the many management tools you’ll get, such as a calendar, a task list, and a memo pad, in addition to a voice recorder, and a calculator.
Although the BlackBerry 9700 Bold does have some issues with the browser, plus the keyboard and display are a little small, these problems don’t take away from the fact that this is really a high quality smartphone, and definitely worth the investment.
