Blackberry 8830 Review
By Jo Wilkes on March 2nd, 2010
The 8830 BlackBerry comes in a stylish design, measuring 4.4 inches X 2.6 inches wide X 0.5 inches deep and weighs 4.7 ounces. This isn’t the smallest BlackBerry available, but this is likely due to the full QWERTY keyboard. Due to its larger size, the 8830 can be a little difficult to use, especially for long periods of time.
On the front of the handset is a 2.5-inch, with 65,000-color display and 320x240 pixel resolution. Seeing text and images on this display isn’t a problem at all. The features that come with today’s cell phones are important to the user, and you will get some great features with the BlackBerry 8830 smartphone. These features include smart dialing, voice activated dialing, and conference calling. There are also some fine email features with this handset, which is to be expected from a BlackBerry mobile.
With this phone you get several messaging options, including multimedia messaging, plus if you use your mobile for business, there is a document viewer that will allow you to view a wide variety of document formats. There is also a built in media player so that you can listen to music and watch videos. The quality is standard, but it does support several file formats including MP3, WMA, AAC, AAC+, and eAAC+, AMR-NB, as well as MIDI formats. For video the BlackBerry 8830 supports MPEG4, and WMV formats. Due to the fact there is only 64MB of internal memory, storing large video files will likely have to be on a flash card.
For business users the BlackBerry 8830 Black offers a number of useful tools, such as a calendar, a tasks list, and a memo pad, plus an alarm, and a calculator; in addition, you can also download more applications to your phone.
With the BlackBerry 8830 you will get excellent call quality, and good performance in general. Browsing the web is fast and easy, and of course you won’t have any trouble keeping in touch with all the messaging options that are included with this phone. As for battery life, the 8830 BlackBerry is rated for over 3 hours of talk time, and 9 days of standby time, though tests have shown that with average use, you will probably get more battery out of it than what it is rated for.
