Blackberry 8820 Review

With the 8820 BlackBerry you get a sleek and sexy phone that comes in an all black casing; it measures 4.5 inches X 2.6 inches X 0.5 inch thick and weighs a mere 4.7 ounces. The only problem with this design is that it is a little wide, which can make the phone slightly uncomfortable to hold in your hand for long periods of time, but it is still very thin, which makes it easy to slip into your pocket.
The screen on the BlackBerry 8820 is 2.5-inch screen and displays 65,000 colors at a 320 x 240 resolution. With this display, colors are bright and you get a crisp-clear picture when viewing text and images. Another feature that makes the screen superior to many offered on other phones is that there is light sensing technology; with this the brightness automatically adjusts to the lighting you are in.
Of course you still get a full QWERTY keyboard with the 8820, and for connectivity, there is WiFi, Bluetooth, and EDGE, but no 3G unfortunately. Some of the great features that you do get include voice navigated GPS, a built in radio, speakerphone, and voice-activated dialing. One fun option with the BlackBerry Curve 8820 is that you can assign photos to contacts so that it is easy to see who is calling with a simple glance at your screen.
Some additional features of the BlackBerry 8820 that will be of particular interest to the business user are this phone’s email capabilities, which BlackBerry is known for. You can have access to POP3 email, corporate email, as well as your web-based email. There is also a document viewer for viewing pictures and other attachments, such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Corel, and more.
The call quality of the BlackBerry 8820 mobile phone is good, but at times there is a slight hiss in the background. Other functions of this handset perform very well, applications come up fast and there is little, if any lag. The sound quality for the music player is okay, not superior but it does okay. The video playback is excellent. Connecting to the Internet with WiFi is easy and the web browsing experience is about what you would expect with a mobile phone.
As far as battery life, this phone is rated for 5 hours of talk time and 22 days of standby time. If you are looking for an all around phone that gives you what you need for business, but is great for personal use too, the BlackBerry Curve 8820 is a great option.
