Blackberry 8703e Review

With the 8703e BlackBerry you get a fairly compact phone that offers a full QWERTY keyboard and push technology so that you can access your email from your phone. Although this phone isn’t as sleek as some of the other BlackBerry phones, it isn’t all that bad either. The 8703e measures 4.3x2.7x0.8 inches and weighs 4.7 ounces. You also get a 2.5-inch diagonal QVGA display that has over 65,000 colors at a 320x240 pixel resolution. Another great feature of this phone is that the screen offers light sensing technology; with this the brightness is automatically adjusted according to the lighting you are in.
One of the best features of the BlackBerry 9703e is that it has great support for email; you can access your accounts with Microsoft Exchange, and IBM Lotus Domino, or Novell GroupWise servers. With the email support offered by this phone you can have up to 10 different email accounts, plus you get support for web-based email.
A big disappointment of the 8703e BlackBerry is that it doesn’t come with support for instant messages, which is surprising considering its focus on email and text messaging features. Fortunately you can still access instant message programs via the web browser and Internet, but this is a mobile that is obviously marketed more for the business user, especially considering its document viewer feature. With this phone, you can view PDF documents, as well as Microsoft documents and pictures.
One of the big drawbacks of this phone is that you will not get any multimedia features so there is no music or video player; there is also no camera. If you are looking for these types of features, the BlackBerry 8703e is definitely not for you.
The call quality on the BlackBerry 8703e is fair, but may be some receptions issues; depending on what area you are in. As far as speed, this phone does an excellent job, with a faster processor, opening and running applications doesn’t seem to be a problem at all.
The battery life of the 8703e BlackBerry cell phone is good, rated for over three hours of talk time and 8 days of standby time. The bottom line with the BlackBerry 8703e is that this is a great phone for business use, but if you are looking for something that offers more in the way of multimedia, you’ll want to look elsewhere as there are many cell phones that offer great messaging, as well as multimedia features.
