iPhone 4 16GB in White Review

In the new iPhone range the iPhone 4 16GB White is classed as the midrange model with the other two handsets coming with 32GB of data storage. The handset itself is a significant improvement on the previous iPhone 3GS and comes with lots of new features and facilities that set it apart from the old handset. These features include:
- New stainless steel white case with specially treated glass covers on the front and the back provide far greater handset durability.
- Thinner design with this latest handset just 9.3mm thick, although it still weighs 4.8 ounces just like its predecessor
- Brand new A4 processor that allows users to access single apps or multitask much faster
- An incredibly sharp display using retina display technology that offers a 960 x 640 screen that has 326ppi and a contrast ratio of 800:1
- 16GB of data storage to give users somewhere to put their HD video footage, music, films and any other data they can think of
- Rear camera with 5 Megapixel picture output and a standard VGA front camera that can be used for Facetime or other similar features
Like any other phone that is currently on the market the iPhone 4 16GB White has both good points and bad point that will define whether this handset will be suited to the needs of each user. Before buying this phone it is worth considering the following pros and cons carefully to ensure the iPhone 4 16GB White ticks all the boxes.
Pros
- Improved display: The already popular multi-touch technology and scratch and fingerprint resistant screen combined with the new retina technology that offers 326 pixels per inch makes this one of the best displays currently available
- Faster processor: Accessing apps much quicker, high speed web browsing and new multi-tasking facilities have all been made possible with the introduction of the new A4 processor
- New built-in cameras: The rear mounted 5 megapixel camera and front VGA camera provide great pictures and HD video as well as a range of new apps like Facetime that take advantage of the front camera
Cons
- Shorter battery life: When compared to the iPhone 3GS the new iPhone 4 32GB is far less capable of sustaining the heavy use of apps or constant audio or visual playback
- Reception issues: The new antenna that is built around the phone was found on release to have a major flaw in which signal strength was reduced significantly when the handset was held during normal use
- Heat problems: A small number of users have experienced issue where the handset became uncomfortably hot when using processor intensive apps over a sustained period of time
